Indian Railways new drive: To spread awareness, Indian Railways is clamping down those passengers who travel without tickets. The national transporter has planned to intercept ticketless travel passengers who are travelling without tickets. In the past few days, the railway board started the drive, according to which it will intercept ticketless travel passengers from June 8 to June 22, 2018. A letter sent to all principal commercial managers by the Railway Board mentioned that by June 23, 2018, a report on the movement will have to be presented by the zones of Indian Railways.

The letter issued by the Railway Board also mentioned that other than identifying false tickets, forged tickets, misuse of passes etc, the drive launched by Indian Railways should also identify transfer of ticket cases and ticketless travel passengers. According to the new drive started by Indian Railways, passengers who are travelling without valid tickets will have to face penalties.

In the past few months of this year, it was found that the national transporter earned Rs 1,097 crore with the help of the penalties on ticketless travel passengers who were travelling without tickets. Indian Railways also enroled 2,000 “touts” who were associated with the black marketing of railway tickets. The sum of Rs 1,097 crore has been earned between the months of April 2017 and February 2018. Also, the national transporter has collected Rs 600 crore extra per year from Flexi fares, which refers to the increased train fare on the basis of demand in superior trains.

Railways Improving Facilities Of Railway Passengers, Adding New Things In The List

Indian Railways, which is facing disapproval over the trains which are running late in various zones, has taken a number of new steps to improve the facilities of railway passengers. The new steps taken by the national transporter involves a new website to make train ticket booking easier and faster, new disposable and eco-friendly plates in some superior trains for meals and extra water bottles in trains which are running late over 20 hours. The drive carried out by the railways also putting efforts to make rail passengers aware of the baggage limit allowed in different train coaches.
